Clinicians

Lloyd Larson earned a B.A. from Anderson University of Anderson, Indiana in 1976 and a M.C.M. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary of Louisville, Kentucky in 1979. He has done additional graduate work at Southern Baptist Seminary, The Ohio State University, and Northern Baptist Seminary, Chicago, Illinois.

Since 1982, Lloyd has been an active composer and arranger for several major publishing companies of church and school music. His compositions and arrangements include well over 1,500 published works—including choral anthems, numerous extended Christmas, Easter and non‑seasonal works, keyboard collections, vocal solo and duet collections, instrumental works for solo and ensembles, orchestrations, and handbell settings. The resulting notoriety has placed him in constant demand as a clinician throughout North America. It is Lloyd’s work in his local church that continues to be the catalyst for much of his writing. He currently directs the adult choir in his home church in addition to being involved in worship planning and leadership.

Lloyd and his wife, Marci, live in Maple Grove, Minnesota. They have three children: Stephanie, married to Brandt; Philip, married to Kylee; and Jeff, married to Jacquelyn. They also have four grandchildren, Addie, Eli, Izzy, and Oliver.

Mary McDonald is a lifelong resident of Knoxville, Tennessee. She is the youngest in a large family with a mother who played the piano by ear. Her extraordinary natural gifting and her exuberant personality have carried her into the hearts of people in congregations all across the county. Whether engaging in passionate worship songs, fun gospel settings, uplifting, spirited originals or simply applying a fresh treatment to existing hymns, Mary’s heart for ministry is to assist others in drawing closer to the throne of grace.

No stranger to glass ceilings, her energy and charisma served her well when she became the first ever woman President of the Southern Baptist Church Music Conference. She served as sacred music editor for The Lorenz Corporation in Dayton, Ohio for more than twenty years. Since 2011, she has served churches across the nation as an independent artist. In addition, Mary serves as host for many of the top Choral Music Dealer conferences in the country, where ministers of music gather to hear and bring back new choral music to their congregations.

When Mary isn’t out sharing her music, she and her husband, Brian, a Knoxville architect, live a quiet life. They have been married for 36 years; have two married children and four grandchildren, who they are rather passionate about. Nothing gives them greater joy than observing their every move.

Dr. Mark Patterson is a nationally acclaimed composer, conductor and teacher. He has worked with choral groups of all ages in public school, university, and church music settings. As a composer, Dr. Patterson enjoys crafting unique choral works with poetic texts, soaring melodies and stirring rhythms. As a conductor and teacher, he enjoys engaging singers with humor and creativity throughout the rehearsal process to deliver a powerful and meaningful performance.

Mark cherishes time with his wife and two children and works hard to prioritize that above most everything else. When time allows, he enjoys playing tennis, working in the garden, hiking, and exploring the outdoors.

Dr. Patterson received his PhD in Fine Arts-Music Education with an emphasis in Choral Conducting from Texas Tech University and Master of Music and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. He currently serves as the Director of Music at Salisbury Presbyterian Church in Midlothian, Virginia, where he leads a comprehensive music program for adults, youth and children.
