Mrs. Irma C. Duke serves as Director of Church Relations and Advancement for Campbell University Divinity School. She holds a BA in Journalism from Florida Southern College and an MACE with a concentration in missions from Campbell University Divinity School.  As director of Church Relations and Advancement, Irma oversees public relations efforts of the school, particularly as they relate to churches and church leaders. She seeks to build partnerships with churches and other Christian ministries, and their leaders, as Campbell Divinity School attempts to prepare God-called men and women for His service, and provide resources for them as they serve their communities. Also, she shares the Divinity School story with churches, foundations, and individual donors and encourages them to support the ministries of the Divinity School. She joined the Divinity School staff in 2000 when she became Director of Student Services and Church Relations.
Prior to joining the staff, she was Executive Director-Treasurer of the Woman’s Missionary Union of North Carolina where she led the largest state WMU organization with some 144,000 members.
From 1996 to 1994, Irma served the Foreign Mission Board (now International Mission Board) in Richmond, VA. She started at the board as a Staff Writer in the News Department and became News Editor. In 1985, she was asked to become Director of the Print Department, responsible for all of the printed promotional materials and then in 1989, she was asked to become Associate Vice President for Communications, which included overseeing the production of all print and video promotion products for the board and serving as administrator for some 55 employees. During this time, she wrote two Foreign Mission Study books, one for youth and one for adults, and hundreds of news and feature stories for Baptist publications.
Irma, a native of Martinsville, VA, is married to Jim L. Duke Jr., a native of Portsmouth, VA. They have two grown sons, Jonathan and Jason. They are leaders at Baptist Fellowship of Angier, a church they helped start in an at-risk neighborhood near their home.   They are foster parents through the Harnett County Department of Social Services.
